I get paid to get paged. 24/7/365 right? Well, that said, I don't like getting paged. So after a weekend of getting paged every few hours I call our monitoring wonk (Hi kal!) and say please make this thing stop paging me. She fails, but that's more a fault of the tool than she's using than her skills honest.

So last night I got paged at 9:31, 9:56, 11:41, 2:26, 3:56, 4:26, 4:56, 5:56 and again while I was driving in at 8:26. So this morning when I got in I went to see if I could solve the actual problem.

It was a DCOM error:

Event Description: The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {BA126AD1-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}to the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE SID (S-1-5-20). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

For an event log entry that's a remarkably helpful thing. Really it is. So I took a chance and clicked the "For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp." link. This has never rendered anything useful EVER. It asked if I wanted to transmit some bits of info over the internet. I read them and said sure. More out of curiosity than anything.

Imagine my shock when the result were useful instructions on fixing the problem.

Definately going to be an odd one today.
