Last night I let the inner tinker gnome loose. We'd ordered DeNae a sling from armsling.com. It hasn't arrived. With Convergence this weekend she wanted something more comfortable, that gave better full arm support, than the cuff that hung straight down from her neck, but less warm and restrictive than the shoulder imobilizer. So I decided how tough could a sling be to make. I went online and looked at all the finest slings with their extra features and their doodads and stuff. The one thing I couldn't duplicate was the springy suspension system. I whipped one up out of some left over canvas in bright green, with some random webbing, in forest green, serger threaded in white, sewing machine in grey. It's ugly, there can be no doubt about that. But it seemed pretty comfortable. She's beta testing it today.
notes from the frontier of boredom
the semi-lucid ramblings of a person on the frontier of boredom without anything to do, and without any meaningful direcion. I love my job. Since I started working here I figured I'd spend the next 30 years doing the same thing. My free time is eaten up. I still don't really have much of a life, but I'm busy and it looks like fun.
