It's been a doggy couple of days. That is to say Mort went to the vet for his regular visit on Monday. Tomorrow I should hear the results of his thyroid test. Tonight the dogs came in from the yard having been bitten. I don't know by what. I do not suspect they got into a fight with each other. That would be VERY unlike them. I can count on one hand the number of times they've bitten each other, and both of them have involved extreme people in their proximity stress, which in turn stressed them out and they took it out on each other.

I get paid to get paged. 24/7/365 right? Well, that said, I don't like getting paged. So after a weekend of getting paged every few hours I call our monitoring wonk (Hi kal!) and say please make this thing stop paging me. She fails, but that's more a fault of the tool than she's using than her skills honest.

So last night I got paged at 9:31, 9:56, 11:41, 2:26, 3:56, 4:26, 4:56, 5:56 and again while I was driving in at 8:26. So this morning when I got in I went to see if I could solve the actual problem.

It was a DCOM error:

Event Description: The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {BA126AD1-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}to the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE SID (S-1-5-20). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

For an event log entry that's a remarkably helpful thing. Really it is. So I took a chance and clicked the "For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp." link. This has never rendered anything useful EVER. It asked if I wanted to transmit some bits of info over the internet. I read them and said sure. More out of curiosity than anything.

Imagine my shock when the result were useful instructions on fixing the problem.

Definately going to be an odd one today.

Well I've shot four rounds of trap since I last blogged about it. I just don't know what to say about it. I guess I can say that combined the four rounds make for a decent score. (6,7,6,2) It's been sucky. I don't know what's different or why I suddenly can't hit ANYTHING. Not even the few I thought "Wow everything just went so right!" about.

Maybe this is the universe's way of telling me to join a smallbore league instead.

Today I am wearing awesome socks. I found out about them by talking to my Mom. Who really never has anything to say about socks, other than that mostly they don't fit well. She was raving about these socks she'd gotten to take to Antarcica, and they were the only socks she'd wanted to wear since. They're the rag wool ones from Lands' End. Well I was on the retail therapy binge last week, and I bought myself a bunch of them. Eight pairs, because I was noticing a lot of my winter socks are on their last winter and they had last years colors on clearance two pairs for $9.50. Which isn't a bad price at all for wool socks.

Anyhow these socks are amazing! they're snug, but not too snug, it's the end of the day and they aren't slipping around. Just fantastic. And they come in a bunch of sizes, which is why both Mom and I think they fit despite the 5 shoe sizes between us.
